1. Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking dish or sheet pan with aluminum foil and lightly grease it with olive oil or nonstick spray.
2. Prepare the chicken
Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Slice them into pieces about ½ inch thick. Lightly season with salt and pepper if desired.
3. Arrange the ingredients
Place the sliced chicken in rows in the center of the foil-lined pan. Scatter the broccoli florets around and between the chicken pieces.
4. Mix the sauce and cheese
In a bowl, combine the shredded cheese with the creamy sauce until well mixed.
5. Add the topping
Spoon the cheese and sauce mixture evenly over the chicken and broccoli. Make sure the ingredients are well covered so everything stays moist during baking.
6. Bake
Place the pan in the oven and bake for 22–28 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
7. Optional browning
For a golden, bubbly top, switch the oven to broil for 2–3 minutes at the end of cooking. Watch carefully to avoid burning the cheese.
8. Rest and serve
Allow the dish to rest for about 5 minutes before serving so the sauce thickens slightly.
Serve warm and enjoy.
